Creepy TV movie from the early 70s with Kim Darby as a woman just moved into a new house populated by little whispering troll-like creatures what live in the chimney. The caretaker warns Darby that the fireplace and chute in the basement were sealed up for a good reason, but she doesn’t care; she wants them opened. Soon enough, strange noises are heard and nick-knacks are never where they’re supposed to be. Everyone thinks Darby is crazy, of course, and things gradually get worse as the little guys get more aggressive, terrorizing people with straight razors and tripping them at the top of the stairs. The effects are done ingeniously with oversized props in the manner of The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957). It’s a lot of fun.
