Clay Borris – 1986 – USA
By-the-numbers action flick only slightly redeemed by star
James Remar, a fine actor who manages – (probably in spite of the director's
influence) – to squeeze in some occasional nuances in his performance that are
subtle and interesting. He’s a New York cop, (the kind
willing to charge his motorcycle into the subway to catch a pickpocket), who
heads out to the country and finds that people can be just as nasty in the
sticks. Some kind of drug ring is
holding the town hostage and killing anyone who gets in their way. It’s up to badass Remar to take out the
trash. It’s all pretty stupid, but it’s
just kind of nice to see Remar in a leading role, maybe one of his last.
