Crocodile

Tobe Hooper – 2000 – USA

Totally unwatchable crap from one-time great Tobe Hooper.  Any sense of style that Hooper once had is completely gone in this boring rip-off of equally bad giant gator/croc movies, including Hooper’s own Eaten Alive (1976); no great film itself but a masterwork compared to Crocodile.  The effects by Berger, Nicotero and Kurtzman are as pedestrian as the entire film; with a big fake monster croc that looks worse than anything on the SyFy Channel.  Sometimes I feel bad for the actors in movies like these because they’re young, hopeful and attractive and end up on the junk heap with everyone else involved, but in this case they’re almost all so dumb and seemingly talentless that it’s probably just as well that we’ll never see them again in anything else.
