Hanna

Joe Wright – 2011 – USA

It seems like there’s a lot of movies about a young woman who’s been trained to become an underworld assassin and/or secret agent with superhero-level genius and abilities, and this is one of them.  I’m not sure if this sub-sub-genre dates back to Luc Besson’s The Professional (1994) or earlier.  Kill Bill comes to mind too, as does Colombiana and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  Nor am I sure what the appeal is, but it doesn’t do much for me.  In Hanna, a girl named Hanna jumps around and kills people easily.  Then some stuff happens and it ends.
