House at the End of the Street

Mark Tonderai – 2012 – USA

Lightweight PG-13 thriller that probably should have aired on the Lifetime Channel instead of screening theatrically.  A teenage girl and her single mom – as per Hollywood clichés – move to a new town where the girl takes an interest in a weird but cute loner who lives down the road, all alone in a house where his parents were killed years ago.  Is he a psycho or just a misunderstood boy?  Will her kindness rehabilitate his reputation among the mean townsfolk, or will it put her life in jeopardy?  Does anyone care?  You can see the twist ending coming from a mile away.  The performances are mediocre.  Mostly it’s just not all that scary.  It has Jennifer Lawrence in it.  She’s big now.
