Turns out hammer-wielding Thor of old wasn’t just a Viking demi-god but a superhero from another planet too, or something like that; (Odin and Loki too). This entry in the never-ending spate of Marvel superhero movies is as good as any of them, I suppose, but I always wish that things would progress a little less predictably. There is so little suspense about what’s going to happen that you basically just have to try and be dazzled by the blur of CGI action effects. Thor is redeemed significantly, though, by an endearing sense of humor and all the skewed camera angles; director Branagh’s stylistic homage to comic books.
