Nightmare Beach

Umberto Lenzi – 1989 – Italy

Wild 80s horror flick that’s obviously Italian, jumbled genres and all, despite every attempt to make it seem an American production. There is some confusion about director Lenzi’s level of involvement; apparently, he wanted out early in production but the producers refused to remove his name from the credits. On the occasion of his execution for murder, the leader of a culty biker gang vows to return from the grave to wreak vengeance, and when a mysterious helmeted motorcyclist appears soon thereafter to kill a series of Miamians by electrocution, it looks like it must be the work of the dead convict. While these gruesome killings continue, meanwhile, it’s wacky high jinks galore for the army of horny spring-breakers flooding into town. That’s right; it’s Friday the 13th meets Porky’s, and the result is so bizarrely entertaining that it’s pointless to complain.
