Zack Snyder – 2023-24 – USA
Literally the only thing that caught my interest in this four-hour-plus movie is the sensitive, philosophical abused droid named Jimmy, who rebels against his masters and runs off into the wilderness, where he lies around, admires the natural world, and ponders life. He dons a ragged, fabric cape and, best of all, a rotating collection of crowns made of animal horns and antlers. Too bad the whole movie wasn’t about him. He’s like the flipside of David in the Ridley Scott Prometheus films; autonomous but gentle, humane, and eager to appreciate life rather than control it.
